Carol Emery was born and raised in Fairfax, Marin County, CA. She has enjoyed extensive world travel (solo), getting to know the cultural arts. The arts include such talents as lost wax casting in the tradition of the ancient Mayan civilization; to the reverse applique ‘molas’ made by the Cuna Indian culture from the San Blas Islands off the coast of Panama.

In between travelling Carol pursued a career in nursing and served the hospitals in the Bay area. She worked in the medical field, first as operating room technician, and later as a registered operating room nurse. She was employed at the local hospital where she met and married Bob Bruce who, at the time, worked in the OR as an anesthesia technologist. She considers her nursing career very rewarding, but it is not her primary passion.

One holiday, Carol received a small box with some beautiful beads in it. This started her primary passion for beading. This passion includes the history of beads (circa 3800 BC); the materials used, (from glass, amber, stones, horn and more); texture; and, of course, color. She beads almost every day and can’t wait until 4pm, when the puppies are exhausted and there are a few hours of uninterrupted time to work the magic.

Carol sells at local venues; Marin Open Studios, Marin County Fair Green Room, Marin County Holiday Boutique, Etsy, Instagram and from her home.
